DNP 825 Evaluate your personal worldview in regard to health-related values and beliefs towards the underserved populations in your community

I agree with you that cultural competence in healthcare allows healthcare workers to deliver quality healthcare services without cultural hindrance. Healthcare providers and workers interact with different people like patients, investors, and suppliers. Cultural competent healthcare workers create trust and sustain relationships with different stakeholders (Gower et al., 2019). Unfortunately, some health professionals are culturally incompetent. As a result, cultural incompetent healthcare workers struggle to communicate and create relationships with their patients and other stakeholders. Reviewing the cultural competence self-assessment checklist helps in increasing cultural awareness (Kaihlanen et al., 2019). Different cultural aspects in the checklist are important in improving understanding on various cultures. The term culture encompasses race, ethnicity, ancestry, beliefs, common experiences, and ways of living with each other in the world. Culture influences people’s interactions and behaviors. Cultural incompetence in healthcare facilities can interfere with provision of healthcare services. Racial stereotypes and prejudice are common in a cultural incompetent workforce.  The self-assessment checklist allows people to conduct self-cultural evaluation.
